Email Trove SupportNo. Indexing, search, organizing, and duplicate detection all happen locally on your Mac. The only requests Trove ever makes are to verify your license, check for app updates, and fetch optional settings — none of which include your files, file names, or searches.
Press ⌥Space (Option-Space) anywhere and describe what you’re looking for — for example, “the invoice from the plumber” or a phrase from inside a PDF. You can also click the Trove icon in the menu bar and use the Find tab.
When you first add a folder, Trove indexes it quietly in the background, which can take a little while for large folders. Indexing also pauses when your Mac is hot or on low power so it stays out of your way. Give it a moment, then search again.
Only the folders you choose to watch (Downloads and Desktop by default). You can add or remove folders any time in Settings. Trove never touches system, library, or application locations.
Yes. Trove shows a preview before any change, and the last batch can be undone from the popover. Duplicate cleanup moves files to the Trash (recoverable) — Trove never permanently deletes your files.
Yes. macOS asks before any app reads protected folders like Downloads or Desktop. Trove requests access only to the folders you choose to watch, and only to read and organize them. It never needs Full Disk Access.
No. Search and organizing work fully offline. On macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence, Trove can add a one-line answer above your results — also entirely on-device. Without it, you still get the complete experience.
Trove is free to try for 14 days with everything unlocked. After that, search stays free forever, and the Organize and Tidy features need a one-time license. No subscription.
Email us at [email protected] with the email address you purchased with and we’ll resend it.
Quit Trove (the power button in the popover, or the menu), then move the app to the Trash. To remove everything Trove created, also delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/ai.nyrai.Trove.
We’d love to hear it — email [email protected] with what you were doing and what happened, and we’ll take a look.
